Sylvia Gallarde Correia's Obituary
Sylvia Correia Obituary
Sylvia Gallarde Correia, a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on September 21, 2023, in Honolulu, Oahu. Born on December 14, 1938, in Lahaina, Maui, Sylvia attended Lahainaluna High School, was a devoted mother and homemaker, and then dedicated her professional life to compassionately serving others as a nurse's aide at Kula and Maui Memorial Hospitals.
Sylvia was known for her loving and generous nature. She had a deep love for her family. She was the proud mother of Joseph (Chips) Correia III, Melody Mays, Leona Bratz (and husband David), and daughter-in-law Danyal Correia. Two children, Dusty and Bambi, predeceased her. Her joy was multiplied by her grandchildren: Blaze Correia (and wife Shelly), Jessika Gillespie (and husband James), Dane Bratz (and wife Nicole), Dylan Bratz, Conrad Bratz, and Nyssa Correia. Sylvia's legacy continued to grow with her great-grandchildren: Kasey Wright (and husband Nikolas), Mia Gillespie, Makana Bratz, Alana Gillespie, Cub Correia, and Sky Bratz. Sylvia is also survived by her brother Richard Gallarde, sisters Georgia Siliado, and Andrea Przybylinski, sister-in-law Shirley Alejado, ex-husband Joseph Correia, Jr., and many other beloved family members.
Sylvia was deeply spiritual, loved God, and was a longtime member of Seicho-No-Ie. She found joy in simple pleasures. She loved reading, her dogs, being at home in Waianae, traveling, and spending time with family and friends. Above all, she cherished and prioritized the moments spent with her children and their families. Sylvia will be deeply missed, but her legacy—of a life of character, faith, courage, gratitude, kindness, playfulness, and love—will inspire her loved ones for years to come.
A celebration of her life will be held on June 20, 2024 at Pokai Bay, Waianae. See this website (Mililani Mortuary) for future details. We would love for favorite photos or memories of Sylvia to be posted on her tribute page. Mahalo!
