Trudy Maile Malterre Horimoto March 29, 1948 – July 25, 2025
Trudy Maile Malterre was born on March 29, 1948, to Walter and Jane Malterre. She spent her early years in Wahiawa, attending Scholfield and Kaala Elementary Schools and Wahiawa Middle School. A proud graduate of Leilehua High School, Class of 1966, Trudy went on to pursue studies in secretarial science at Honolulu Business College.
Trudy began her professional journey with a brief tenure at the Wahiawa Post Office. In 1980, she joined Charles Pankow, and later worked with U.S. Pacific and Development, contributing her skills and dedication to every role she held.
On March 15, 1970, Trudy married Calvin Horimoto. Together they raised two children, James Imaikalani and Kristi Leilani, building a family grounded in love, values, and aloha.
Trudy is survived by her beloved children: James Horimoto (Linh) and Kristi Hernandez; her cherished grandchildren: Hōkūnani Hernandez, Kelii Hernandez, Jewels Horimoto, and Lauryn Horimoto; her brothers: Gustave M. Malterre and Peter W. Malterre (Leonilda); her sisters: Susanne Malterre - Htun (KoMoe), Mary Jane Bruening, and Terry Malterre; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews who will carry her memory forward.
Trudy will be remembered for her strength, warmth, and unwavering devotion to her family. Her legacy lives on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, November 01, 2025 at Mililani Mortuary Makai Chapel.
Visitation begins at 8:30 am and service 9:30 am.
Inurnment to follow, 10:30 am at Mililani Memorial Park Cemetery.
