Walter Hau'oli Kamahi'ai's Obituary
Walter William Hau‘oli Kamahi‘ai, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away surrounded by love. Born on February 20, 1962, to Beverly and William Kamahi‘ai, Walter was raised with strong values, a warm heart, and a deep love for his family. He grew up in Pearl City and graduated from Pearl City High School, where he would meet the love of his life, Penny. Their connection, rooted in youth and strengthened over a lifetime, became the foundation of a beautiful family.
Walter was a dedicated worker and took great pride in everything he did. He spent many years as a semi-tractor driver, with his last place of employment at Pineridge. Later, he took over Janell’s Towing, a business started by his brother Bishop, continuing the family’s legacy with commitment and heart.
A true sportsman, Walter was an exceptional bowler who achieved the remarkable milestone of bowling a perfect 300 game three times. Nothing brought him more joy than watching his grandchildren embrace the sport he loved. Walter also devoted countless hours to the baseball and softball fields, coaching with patience, passion, and pride. His guidance shaped many young athletes, but none meant more to him than his own grandchildren.
Walter’s greatest pride and joy were his grandchildren, each one holding a special place in his heart. His love for them was unwavering, and he supported them in every dream, every game, and every achievement.
Walter is survived by his wife, Penny Kamahiai; his son, Blayne Ha‘o Kamahiai (Charlyn); and his daughter, Brooke Kamahiai (Chance). He is also survived by his grandsons: Zaydden Kamahiai, Branson Kamahiai, and Bishop Kamahiai and Chansten Cabral. He also survived by his granddaughters Mariah Antoque, Kaila Kamahiai, and Mailani Kamahiai. Preceded in death by dad William Kamahiai, mom Beverly Kamahiai, and brother Bishop Kamahiai.
We will be Celebrating Walter’s life on February 22, 2026, at Mililani Tech Park Center, 400 Kahelu Avenue, Mililani at 5:00 p.m. No flowers, please, and come dressed in Dodgers gear or blue to help us honor Walter with memories, laughter and love.
Walter leaves behind a legacy of love, dedication, and quiet strength. His memory will forever live on in the hearts of the family he cherished and the many lives he touched.
