Aloha, my sister Nani Hanus, and I have so many wonderful memories of Uncle Willy growing up! He and our late father, Samuel Hirosane, were friends from back when they grew up together in Waipahu. Uncle Willy would visit us from time to time and we'd wait excitedly to see his signature Mustang car pull up to the curb in front of our house. He was so tall, and we'd beg him to let us go on his shoulders. He'd always walk over from his car saying "Hot Dogs! Saimin!" while holding a bag of beautiful home-grown avocados from his Waipahu home. Our dad's nickname for Uncle Willy was Kadon, and he was always so very happy to be able to spend time with him, talk story about da old days in Waipahu, and mutual friends they knew from Waipahu high school. We send our deepest and sincerest condolences to Uncle Willy's Ohana. We loved him so much and were sad to learn of his passing.
