Winona Caroline Kaneala'i Kealoha's Obituary
Winona Caroline Kaneala'i Kealoha 81, of Kapolei, Hawaii died on December 11, 2025.
She was born in Honolulu on December 05, 1944, to William and Ester Aila, the eldest of their 3 daughters. She attended Wai'anae High School and married Henry R. Kahue, Sr. on September 08, 1962. She worked at Pokai Bay Tavern and Nanakuli Food Giants, where many came to know her warmth and steady presence.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Henry & Charles; son, Charlton Kahue; and her brothers, William, Anthony, and Melvyn.
She is survived by her sisters, Grebell and Lurline; sons, Heston R.P. (Wanda) Kahue, Henry R. (Lisa) Kahue, Jr., daughter, Kapiolani Nahaku; her 12 grandchildren, Caroline, Cassandra, Catherine, Christine, Celeste, Henry William, Pauahi, La'i, Kamaka, Keoni, Kai, and Nicholas; and her 31 great grandchildren.
She is also survived by her 6 Hanai sons, Kent, Ben, Eric, Bumbo, Garrette and William; her 3 Hanai daughters, Tashawn, Kanani, and Lynette and many nieces and nephews of the Aila, Gray, Tavares, and Cabudol ohana.
A woman of many talents, she loved playing and singing music, bowling and tennis. She was especially known for her cooking. The variety of dishes she prepared was unmatched and shared generously with all. She had an incredible memory for birthdays, remembering everyone across generations, from grandparents to mo'opuna.
Though small in stature, she was immense in love, kindness, sincerity, empathy, and goodwill. Wherever she went, she had a gift for connecting with people. She called Nanakuli home from 1971 to 2007, she then resided with her eldest son in Kapolei, where she formed lasting friendships with neighbors who became part of her extended ohana.
A memorial service will be held at Mililani Mauka Chapel on January 31st, visitation at 5:30 pm and service at 6:30 pm.
