Yaeko Sugai's Obituary
YAEKO SUGAI, 92 of Pearl City, HI passed away at Kaiser Moanalua Medical Center. She was born in Hawi, HI. Yaeko moved to Ewa, Oahu in the early 1940's and quickly found housekeeping work for the wives of several Ewa Plantation supervisors. Years later, she took the advice of one of the wives, Ruth Orcutt Bacon, by applying for a state job as a cafeteria worker. She worked at a number of leeward schools until retirement and made many life-long friends. She is survived by her husband of 74 years, Wallace R. Sugai; daughter Sandra "Sandi" Yara and grandson Colin "Co" Yara; son Scott Sugai pre-deceased her. Services will be held on Sunday March 19, 2017 at Mililani Mortuary Mauka Chapel. Visitation 10:00am. Memorial Service 11:00am; refreshments and lunch to follow. Casual attire.
