Shauna Zukeran
Yasu Takehara (affectionately known as Obachan to her family) was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Obachan was proud, intelligent, resilient and also friendly, fun, and generous. She lost her mother as a child, survived a war, found love in the aftermath of that war, and traveled across the globe to raise a family. Her loving husband, Yo Takehara, predeceased her in 2023, and she devoted herself to taking care of him during his final years. Her interests were many. She loved to cook, shop, travel, watch Korean soap operas, and would take the bus everywhere. She relished the time with her great grandchildren, often singing them Japanese nursery rhymes and taking them on walks around the neighborhood. In her later years, she enjoyed hanging out with her friends at the Plaza, eating dinners, and going shopping with her family. Obachan is survived by her two daughters Diane (Brian) and Gail, five grandchildren and their partners, and seven great grand children. Many more family and friends will miss her dearly.
