Yoshitaka Nakama Obituary
Yoshitaka Nakama, 93 of Mililani Mauka passed away peacefully at home with loved ones supporting him.
He was born in Honolulu and a Korean War Veteran. He retired from the Army after almost 22 years of meritorious service as a helicopter technician. After retiring from the Army, he continued working in Civil Service at Hickam Air Force Base. He was a very humble man, earning many accolades while in the Army. In February of 1964, while stationed in Germany, he and his helicopter crew, who risked electrocution by maneuvering under power lines, rescued 4 German firemen from a river. They received honor certificates from the German Minister-President. He also received a certificate for his enthusiastic efforts and personal sacrifices he made in support of the resettlement of Indochina Refugees.
He loved Golfing, Bingo, Yoga and always looked forward to his many trips to Las Vegas.
He is predeceased by his wife, Yukiko; survived by sons, Mark (Laurie) Nakama, Jesse (Emiko) Nakama; daughter, Kathy Watarai; sisters, Nancy Kang, Evelyn Kaneshiro; 5 grandchildren, Tanya, Cynthia, Andrew, Jeremy, Iris and 4 great-grandchildren, Lexi, Dylan, Zaiden, Lilith.
