Young Simon Wong's Obituary
Young Wong, also known as Simon, passed away on April 19th, 2026,
at the Queen’s Medical Center surrounded by his families. He was
battling Multiple Myeloma and Plasma Cell Leukemia (diagnosed April
2022).
Young was born on November 10, 1950, in Vietnam. He would later
seek refuge in Hong Kong due to the development of the Vietnam War.
As a young adult, he quickly became a skilled artisan in jewelry making
and an opportunity arose as a passerby noticed his craftmanship.
Through the passerby’s recommendation, Young made the trip to
Kansas, USA, though his tenure there was quickly short-lived making a
break to California before finally settling down here in Hawaii.
Young was an incredibly hard-working individual, holding a full-time
job at Excellent Gem’s Jewelry and later Maui Divers Jewelry to support
his family. He is survived by his wife, Esmenia Laberinto Wong, three
children (previous marriage), Terrence Wong, Joni Wong, Daisy Wong,
and stepchildren, Alvin Espanto and Asten Espanto.
Please join us to honor his life with service to be held on Saturday, July
11th, 2026, at Mililani Mortuary Makai Chapel.
Visitation begins at 9:30am and service at 10:30 am.
Inurnment to follow, 11:30 am at Mililani Memorial Park Cemetery.
