My name is Domi Nabal. I've known Bino for 56 years working along side together on the Nuclear Submarine in 1967. He, a Sheetmetal worker (Shop 17) and me, a Machinist (Shop 38). Also known him through my classmate, Estrella (Camarillo). Bino is a kind, easy going, friendly person. We bowled against each other in the Shipyard Bowling League at the Kalihi Bowling Center and also at the Monday Night League at the Leeward Bowl in Pearl City. At times, we would talk and laugh about stuffs. I'm sure to miss his smile and laughter.
My uncle Bino became an inspiration as our family patriarch when our grandpa passed away. Uncle lived his life well, setting a wonderful example for the rest of the family. My grandfather told me the "story" of uncle Bino one day while fishing off the sands at Sunset Beach. How uncle decided to join the military to start his career life and quest. He did, but not just the military, he set his sights on the Marines, which he was very proud of. He set his goal of marrying aunt Estrella at a certain age. He did very well there. His work goals were met, allowing him to take care of his family in the way he envisioned. Then when he and aunt could, they were able to do all the great things they wanted to together. I have made many of my life decisions based on the example set by my uncle.
My dad was very inspirational and told me that I could do anything I wanted to so long as I put my mind to it - that's probably where I get my love of outdoor adventure! I've tried out skydiving, I've taken martial arts (to be like him) and now I go rock/ice climbing, canyoneering, and off-roading.I have so many wonderful memories of my dad. One of the funniest memories I have of my dad was probably not so funny to him. I had just gotten my driver's license and took his car to work. When I got out of work it was late at night and the car wouldn't start. I called him and both he and my mom got out of bed and showed up to help me get the car started. He got in the car and then turned to me and said, "The car won't start because you didn't put it in 'Park'....you left it in 'Drive'! YIKES!For those of you lucky enough to know this amazing man, no doubt you have some wonderful memories of him too! Please share them on this tribute wall. Love you always Dad - Rest in Aloha!
