I met Ben on the air in 2005. He was quick to welcome me into his o'Hana radio network. What a great man and nice bunch of fellow radio operators. He remembered everyone who checked into his net and always had a good word to offer. I am confident that as long as there is ham radio, there will be the o'Hana net, thanks to Ben.Â

All of Ben's friends from the O'hana Net miss him greatly. Ben was one of the first hams that I spoke to after I got my license. He was a wonderful radio friend and truly spread the Aloha spirit to all of his many friends. 73 old friend ---Â
Ham radio was a passion for Ben. In particular, the Ohana Net, and its spirit of aloha, is what brought Ben and me together. Thru the years it's what turned a radio acquaintanceship into a friendship.  My wife and I had the pleasure of getting together with Ben and Penny on several occasions.  They always made us feel like long-lost friends, and of course, I remember those meetings with fondness. Of Ben's many attributes, the one I choose to remember him by is his ability to get along with everyone, the cantankerous included,  He was inclusive and made everyone feel welcome. In that sense, he really did embody ohana and aloha. He is missed...but also dearly remembered.
