For some reason I was thinking of your today and the last time I saw you in front of the Surf Center in Haleiwa, when we said Aloha to each other. Knew you back around 1970, then surfing with you at Haleiwa. I was so sorry to hear of your passing. RIP Hawaiian.
I was friends with David Kalama, in La PuenteCa. in 1963 and 1964. We attended the La Puente Foursquare Church, which is the community and church that I grew up in. We were members of the church youth group and also members of the church choir. There were many high school kids that we all socialized with and enjoyed life long friendships with. There were many camping trips and social events our circle of friends enjoyed. David wasadmired by all at our church and the parents and pastors held him in high regard because he was passionate about his relationship with God. David became a U.S. Marine and moved away after graduation. I married a mutual friend of ours from church and moved. In the year of 2000 I worked in a doctors office in Santa Ana Ca. and crossed paths with David’s brother and his wife as patients. And they put David and I in touch with one another and was invited to Hawaii to visit David and his family and his church. We were both stunned and excited to see one another once again so many years later. I was a grandma by then and a widow. It was a real treat of a lifetime to have seen my precious friend and his spiritual devotion. Once again and know how faithful that God had been to us both.
