About 1978 my first work assignment as a welder apprentice at Pearl Harbor, I was assigned to work on a navy surface craft. The boss told me to go to the fire room and assist "Grover". So I'm thinking Grover must be one Haole guy , because no local going name their son Grover. So searching throughout the fire room their was no Haole guy from the welding shop, so I asked and they pointed to this big Japanese guy. I went up to him and introduced myself and I told him the boss said to assist you. The first thing out of his mouth was "You play softball". after that I was his friend from then on . Many good times at Keehi Lagoon park and Pearl Harbor Shipyard. He had a uncanny humor and was a very great guy. Glad to have known him and will be truly missed. Aloha Grover
I will miss him telling the story of how when I was small, I used to cry when he would call me to come. He loved to tell that story every Christmas. â¤ï¸ I will also miss hearing about how he would get good eye exercise when at the Spa/Gym. Uncle always made us laugh and smile! We will miss him and his rascal spirit dearly!â¤ï¸
We loved racing to Buzz'a steakhouse to see who would be the first one to pick up the bill and pay. It was fun family challenge. We will miss him.
