Grover Miyasato, 88, passed away peacefully on December 25, 2023 surrounded by family. He was born on May 29, 1935 in Maunaloa, Molokai to Kokichi and Shizuko Miyasato. After the end of WWII, the family moved to the Waipio plantation camp, now part of Mililani Town. Grover attended Kipapa School, graduated from Leilehua High School, then completed the welding program at Honolulu Technical School. Grover served in the U.S. Army where he was stationed in Europe and had the opportunity to travel throughout Europe. Upon returning home, he served as a welder at the Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard. After retiring from federal service, he was employed by Aiea High School as part of their custodial staff. Grover was known as an exceptionally skilled and hard-worker, earning many honors and recognition as a welder. He was also named as the Department of Education Central District’s Employee of the Year. Upon retirement, Grover was part of the group of friends who met each Saturday for breakfast at Pearl Country Club and each week for coffee and “talk story” sessions at the Pearlridge Shopping Center Food Court. Always a joker and rascal, he kept everyone entertained with his stories, unique vocabulary and humor. Grover is survived by wife Dora, son Craig Miyasato, daughter Sheri Aribon, grandson Lucas Aribon, sister Hannah Hamamura (Ray) and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents and siblings Merle Kishi (Sadamu), Melva Miyasato (Ilai Jennings), and Edward Miyasato (Louise). Services on April 13, 2024, Saturday, at Mililani Memorial Park, Mauka Chapel. Visitation at 5:00 p.m.; services at 6:00 p.m. Casual attire.
