Jacob “Jake” Kalawaianui Hueu, 90, of Pearl City Hawaii passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends on Sunday, January 28, 2024. He was born on October 03, 1933, in Lahaina, Maui, Hawaii.
In high school, Jake was a stellar athlete who excelled in basketball, baseball, and football. He was an avid sportsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, swimming, and diving.
After high school, Jake joined the United States Marine Corps. He served various stateside and foreign assignments and attained the rank of Sergeant.
Jake worked for the Department of Education for almost 30 years. He was a teacher and a coach at Lanai High, Nanakuli Intermediate, and Pearl City High School. He was a JV and Varsity coach in baseball, basketball, football, and golf.
After retirement, Jake remained actively involved in youth athletics with Pearl City Little League and Pop Warner football. He continued to instill the values of good sportsmanship, self-discipline, and teamwork.
Jake is survived by his wife of 63 years, Rosita Viduya Hueu, son, Darren Hueu, daughter Roberta “Robbie” (Michael) Bunda; 10 grandchildren; 25 grandchildren.
His celebration of life will be on Monday, April 22, 2024, at Mililani Mortuary Mauka Chapel.
Visitation begins at 9:00 a.m. and services at 10:30 a.m.
Burial at 1:30 p.m. at Mililani Memorial Park Cemetery.
