Leroy O. Harrison (CMSgt, USAF, Retired)

Leroy "Oly" Harrison, 83, of Waipahu passed away on August 1, 2025 surrounded by his family.
Oly was born November 1, 1941 in East Providence, Rhode Island, the son of Viola M. Inez Harrison.
He graduated from East Providence High School in 1960 and then went on to enlist in the United States Air Force that same year.
Oly served 30 years in the United States Air Force. He spent his first 17 years in the Intelligence career field. He became a first sergeant in 1977 and retired as a Chief Master Sergeant in 1990. He served two tours in southeast Asia: Vietnam in 1965-66 and Thailand in 1972-73. He also served in the Phillipines, Germany, the United States, and he did six tours of duty in Japan. Post military retirement, he served as a corrections officer at the McNeil Island Corrections Center in Washington State, a Washington State Liquor Control Board enforcement officer, and a part-time bailiff at the Fife Municipal Court in Fife, WA.
He married the former Noriko Matsushima in Fukuoka, Japan in 1970 while stationed at Hakata Air Base, Japan.
Oly was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was also an accomplished athlete who played football and softball for several years during his time in the military.
Preceding Oly in death are his mother, Viola M. Inez Harrison; sister, Inez A. Good Peck; and brother, Andrew "Cab" Lemar, all of Rhode Island. He is survived by his wife Noriko, his sons Louis (Wendy) and Paul (Gina), and his grandchildren Nathaniel and Andrew.
A private viewing will be held on Monday, September 15, 2025 at the Mililani Memorial Park & Mortuary with a committal service to follow at the Hawaii State Veterans Cemetery in Kaneohe.
