Sharon Wong
Mapuana, or “Mana†as the Waiola Chu family called her, grew up with the children of Harry and Venus Chu and remained close throughout her life. She was Godmother to Sharon, the youngest girl. In 2005, after the passing of our oldest sister Momi, Mana came to live in her apartment in the family’s apartment building on Waiola Street and shared in everyone’s daily lives for 16 years. A favorite nightly pastime was doing jigsaw puzzles with our brother Patrick. Mana also was obsessed with Hawaiian music and watching tennis on tv. She especially loved the big family holiday gatherings under the tent in the building parking lot, especially when shrimp tempura was on the menu. Mana was loved by the whole Chu family who missed her dearly when she moved to a care home in April, 2021.
