Mary "Jackie" Smith was born in Detroit, MI on November 22,1942. She grew up in Michigan, spent 14 years in Colorado and Washington State, before moving to Texas in 1986, where she met her beloved husband Pewter Smith. They shared Read Obituary
Jackie will be deeply missed. I very much enjoyed Game nights at her house, and a distinct memory I have is teaching her and Scott how to play Catan. Inside the game box we own, everyone who plays signs their name on the box; Jackie’s signature is apart of this collection.
Jackie was a picture of service. She welcomed me into her home to teach me to knit and shared all her resources with me, and again when I expressed interest in cross stitch. When I needed someone to watch my sons for an hour so I could go to the airport, she came over and sat with them until I returned. She remembered birthdays and celebrated with her Bible study group making sure to get them a cake and even hung a birthday banner. She shared time, books, laughs, and most of all a deep love for the Lord. Her words were always encouraging and the impact she made on so many lives is a true testament to her faith and how she lived to glorify the Lord. She will be deeply missed and yet I rejoice knowing that this isn't goodbye, we can look forward the heavenly reunion which awaits.
There are too many wonderful memories of Miss Jackie to recount. She furnished mine and my wife’s home in Denton, TX when we had our first child. She hosted countless college students into her home to share her grief after Pewter died. She helped young believers understand what it means to hope in the resurrection. She did my taxes!!! She donated to many college students to go on retreats for the building up of their faith. There are numerous other ways this amazing woman has blessed me and so many others! Our condolences to your family. May we all grieve with hope as she did in her life. Praise God for Miss Jackie 🙏🙏.
Mary became a great neighbor to us. We missed her when she moved to Hawaii. I remember one time she came over and had to show me a picture. We laughed. It was me on top of our house she had taken of me helping my husband put up Christmas lights on our house. May she rest in peace. I know she will be missed.
