This picture was taken at Sam Choy’s restaurant in May of 2007 in Honolulu. Seems like yesterday. My family and I went on a family vacation to Hawaii where we lived in the early 1970’s.
When we moved there, uncle Marcial, auntie Lily and our cousins welcomed us to their house with open arms while we looked for a house. I cherished our times together and to have that connection to family.
Auntie Lily and I kept that connection going until the day before her 90th birthday. I enjoyed my talks with auntie as we spoke in Pangasinan, my first language. I was looking forward to calling her at Christmas to greet her.
Auntie was kind and cared about everyone. She was a devout Catholic. who served her parish, heard Mass every day and prayed multiple times a day.
I miss and love you, auntie. May you rest in eternal peace.
