REX BACCAY, born on December 31,1954 as Anthony Rex Baccay in Isabela Santiago, PI, died on January 18, 2019 at the age of 64. Rex retired as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic. He was employed at Waialua Sugar Plantation for 20 years, Hawaiian Dredging Construction Company for another 15 years, and BAE Systems for 5 years. He was a baseball coach for Waialua Little League for many years and later coached an ILH baseball team PAC 5 which became 2011 Division II Champions. Besides having a passion for baseball, Rex had a passion for music. He was a bass player for multiple bands throughout his lifetime. Starting with Exotic 5 in High School to the start of The Krush in the 1970’s. He also played bass for New Experience, Island Flava, and his current band Persuasion. Rex was a person who loved to give back to the community. He enjoyed helping others, whether it be for baseball or music, or just being someone you can talk to for advice.
He is survived by wife Myrna (Albeso) Baccay, sons Vaughn (Tanya) Baccay, and Darren (Taylor) Baccay, daughter Marla (Brandon) Baccay, grandsons Dalen, Brennan, Blake “Kaeo”, and Zayne, granddaughters Haley and Neveah. Also brother Anthony Roy “Tony” Baccay and sisters Grace Baccay and Gretchen Lorenzo. Rex has numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation and Funeral Services for Rex will be held on Wednesday, February 20th, 2019, at Mililani Memorial Park and Mortuary's Mauka Chapel. Visitation will begin at 5:00 pm followed by the Funeral Services at 6:30 pm.
