Robert Andy Alvarez's Obituary
Robert Andy Alvarez, age 35, passed away on September 3, 2025, while serving overseas in Bahrain. He was born on July 7, 1990, in Riverside, California. He was a young child when his family moved back to Waipahu, Hawaii where he grew up. He graduated from Waipahu High School in 2008. He was a true local boy at heart with a love for the island life and culture. He especially loved the music and the ocean and passed that love to his family. He was always a service to others and found his future calling when he joined the U.S. Navy on June 19, 2012.
Robert Alvarez began his naval career onboard the USS Bataan as an undesignated seaman. He would later become a Boatswains Mate and earn the rank of BM3. While onboard the USS Bataan, little did he know, he would meet his best friend and now wife Jeannie. BM3 Alvarez would later re-enlist as a Master at Arms and later serve as an MA at the following commands: Joint Base Pearl Harbor Hickam, NSA Bahrain, Naval Base Point Loma, and again for what would be the final time at NSA Bahrain.
Robert (Rob/ Robbie) was a light in any room he would walk into. His smile makes you smile. His infectious laugh would make you laugh with him. He was a genuine, driven, hardworking, and compassionate man. Always remembered as a loving husband, father, son, friend, and shipmate, but never forgotten. We love you always!
He is survived by his wife, Jeannie Alvarez; sons, Aizen Alvarez and Atlas Alvarez; daughters, Alizay Alvarez, and Aleia Alvarez; parents, Alex Jr. Alvarez, and Virginia Alvarez; brothers, Norbert Alvarez and Albert Alvarez.
Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, at Mililani Mortuary Downtown Chapel, Honolulu. Visitation begins at 9:00 am, program at 10:00 am and service at 11:45 am. Burial to follow at 1:00 pm at National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific, Punchbowl.
