Rosemarie "Maring" Dungca, was born in Hilo, Hawaii on December 22, 1940. She passed away peacefully surrounded by her beloved family on June 1, 2025.
She moved to Oahu in 1950 where she became a lifelong resident of Whitmore Village. She met her husband Raymond "Toge" Dungca while attending Leilehua High School and God blessed their union through marriage on August 2, 1958.
She worked for Dole Pineapple Company aka: Pineapple Pavillion working in sales and performing for tourists by singing and playing the ukulele for 11 years, since 1967.
She worked for the City & County of Honolulu from 1978 to 2025 as a Program Aide. She was reputable and highly respected in her community.
She danced with Kumu Hula Hokulani DeRego and was later given the blessing of creating her own Halau under the name "Na Leo Nahenahe O Na Kupuna" in 1983. She established her own band of musicians to perform accompaniment for halau performances. She dedicated her craft of teaching hula and ukulele to many.
She was well known as the pillar of her church, Our Lady of Sorrows, and of the church community. Her strength and devotion came from her faith which was insurmountable.
She is survived by her husband Raymond "Toge" Dungca Sr.; four sons Jordan (Kimberly), Raymond "Mondo" Jr. (Pat), Jed (Lisa), and Vance; two daughters Vedette and Raychelle; 12 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by two brothers, Felix and Roylen (Debbie) Neiva, and one sister Dolores Dungca. Predeceased by sisters Katherine Kahoalii, Rosalinda Ke-a; and brothers Emilio Jr. and Paul Neiva.
Celebration of Life will be held on August 19, 2025, at Mililani Memorial Park, Mauka chapel. Visitation at 8:30 am and Service at 10 am. Burial to follow at 1:30 pm.
