My condolences to the Nishikawa Ohana; Mr. Nishikawa was my auto shop teacher from 1976-1978. "Niish" (as we called him) played a huge role developing me during those early impressionable years of high school. I worked as an after school apprentice learning the automotive trade paid for by the state initiated by Mr. Nishikawa. As an apprentice, we did everything from simple tune ups/oil changes to painting automobiles and complete engine rebuilds. Mr. Nishikawa had a sense of humor but yet taught you the value of doing things right the first time. I have long since left home and spend most of my days around Army aviation as an instructor pilot. The mentorship and foundation that people like "Niish" has set is instilled in me forever.
