Teresa Amerio's Obituary
Teresa “Tessie” Groesbeck Amerio, 98, (Oct 25, 1927-Oct 26, 2025) passed away peacefully in her Waipahu home, surrounded by family.
Tessie met the love of her life, Bert, in a class at Berkely. When he scooted his seat next to hers, it was the start of their great adventure. They shared a 75-year marriage of laughter and love. Their diamond anniversary was celebrated with a shoutout by Joe Moore on the local news.
As an Air Force wife, Tessie traveled the world, raised three daughters, and earned several college degrees. She loved each career and brought vibrancy and professionalism to her work as librarian, teacher, and guidance counselor. Her creativity enhanced customers’ experience at the family business Images and Accents Gift Boutique. She retired from Nanakuli High School. Tessie brought comfort to others through Healing Touch.
Tessie was a world class cook reflecting many cultures. She delighted family and friends with handmade cards and photo albums. Her ceramic pieces are cherished for their beauty. She enjoyed Red Hat events. Her humor and storytelling skills are legend.
She is remembered as a great listener and mentor. Her mission was to be of service. Her strong will, independence, gratefulness and optimism inspired others. She was a model of graceful aging and adapting to life’s changes.
Tessie is predeceased by her parents, brother, husband, and granddaughter. She is survived by daughters Terri Amerio-Bell (Howard), Denise Sudik (Jim), Gail Martin (Jim); 9 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; surviving sister-in-law, Mary Amerio Rosetto; and countless family and friends.
A Celebration of Life for Tessie will be held Jan. 16, 11:30 am, at The National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific at Punchbowl.
