Tony’s Garden
His beautiful smile and his warm loving spirit a Gentle Giant we loved you Tony you will be greatly missed.
I went to Lee High with Tony and he was a wonderful guy! I saw him many years later and met his Hawaiian wife. They were so sweet! I admired him for dedicating his life working with kids in Hawaii. A great basketball player too! Prayers to the family!

I went to high school with Tony. He was a force to be reckoned with on and off the basketball court. He was a good man who touched the lives of many and will always be remembered. Rest in Peace Tony!

I remember walking to school one fall day as a child with my uncle Tony. We laughed and talked along the way. I've cherished that memory for years.
Love Always,

Although I spent a limited amount of time with "Uncle Tony" when he and his lovely wife visited the continental U.S. mainland, he left an unforgettable impression. Given his accomplishments as an athlete, one of his first comments to me—aside from welcoming me to the family—was his observation that to him, I looked "like an athlete". This compliment was certainly not wrong, but it reflected something important about Uncle Tony to me immediately. He noticed others and made them feel like they mattered. Unfortunately, I never got to know him to the same degree that I knew his late brothers Glenn and Charles, or his surviving brother "Uncle Stan", I have fond memories of Uncle Tony's visit to Virginia and cherish the handful of pictures that were taken with him, Diane, and my children at our home. His loss was unexpected and I can only imagine the grief shared among those closest to him. We felt it too. I pray that God's strength sustains all those who are grieving most deeply. My fondest memory of Uncle Tony, which I'll carry with me always, is from when I was a child. When we lost our grandmother — his mother — our whole family was scattered. He was sent to live with one aunt, and my sisters and I were sent to live with another. He was just a teenager, grieving the same loss we were, adjusting to a new home himself. And yet he would walk across town, again and again, just to check in on us.
No one asked him to. He just did it — because even in the middle of his own pain, he still made sure we didn't feel alone. That kind of love shaped us more than he ever knew, and the world was a warmer place with him in it. We will miss him.
His niece, Gidget Doughty
