William Alan Bartenstein's Obituary
William Bartenstein Obituary
Bill was born in Hartford Connecticut. He had an older brother Bernie, a adoring sister Bev and his youngest brother Ronnie.
Wheels were an important part of Bill's life from his youth. First it was bicycles and then he moved onto bigger things...cars. And cars became his life.
Bill joined the Marine Corps fresh out of high school There he did a tour of duty in Japan where he began racing motorcycles and was also stationed in Hawaii which many years later would become his home.
Bill's first car was a 53 Ford. His wife Gail talked him intio his first vette which was a 57. That is where it all started. He has been building vettes and custom cars since 1962. Bill opened Corvette Center and was known as Mr Vette. Bill worked long hours and was a craftsman, and a perfectionist. Gail was always right there with meals waiting at all hours just so he could keep up his hectic hours.
Bill and Gail have 2 children Billie and Stacy. Billie worked by his side as soon as he was old enough too. They built custom vettes and cars for Barrett Jackson where they would "rock the block" and sell their custom Corvette mods. They were well known builders at Barrett Jackson as well as in Hawaii. Family life was centered around Corvettes and were and always will be a true Corvette Family.
Bill lost his wife to stage IV glioblastoma in 2017 and their lives were never the same. Bill is finally at peace at his wife’s side in heaven
He is survived by his two children, 6 grandchildren, and 3 great grand children. He was loved and will never be forgotten
